I thought I would post pictures of my new home for the next three weeks. I was met at the airport by the school's director, who was wonderful. We took the express train to the city centre where Nadejda, my host family, met me and we took the metro to where I will be living for the next three weeks.
This is the outside door to the apartment building.
Elevator (very old and a little scary)
You get off the elevator (third floor) and there is a locked steel door to the apartments
You get through the steel door and this is the hallway (a common storage area)
My first bowl of real Russian borsht. Dinner my first night.
Decorations in my room
Russian kitty litter
Another student (an Italian airline pilot) by our school's metro stop
This is my new home. A very Soviet era apartment building about 30 minutes by metro from the city centre.

My first day was very interesting, but I am still quite Jetlagged. My Russian family consists of the hostess, Nadejda, her son, Andrei, and two cats. They are incredibly nice and welcoming. They do not speak any English. Tomorrow: my school.
